About the Journal

Established in 1991, IYUNIM is a peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary academic journal of Israel Studies published twice a year by the Ben-Gurion Research Institute for the Study of Israel and Zionism, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. The journal is dedicated to the study of modern Israel and modern Jewish society. 

Journal Series 

IYUNIM is published in two series: 

  1. The semi-annual series: Each volume contains research articles in various fields that specialize in modern Jewish society and the Israeli society and state. The articles address these issues from a variety of disciplines, such as history, sociology, thought, political science, economics, culture, geography, art, and gender studies.
  2. The thematic series: Each issue is dedicated to a significant topic within the journal's fields of interest.

This two-series format provides an invigorating and ongoing platform for discussing the most prominent questions of Israeli state, society and culture. 

Peer Review Process 

All manuscripts submitted to IYUNIM: Multidisciplinary Studies in Israeli and Modern Jewish Society undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for publication. Manuscripts that meet the journal's editorial standards are sent for double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Final publication decisions are made by the Editors based on the reviewers' reports and the journal's editorial policies.

IYUNIM: Multidisciplinary Studies in Israeli and Modern Jewish Society is committed to the principles of open access and provides immediate, free access to all of its content. We believe that making scholarly research freely available to the public promotes the global exchange of knowledge and supports the advancement of research and education.

All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). Authors retain copyright of their work while granting the journal the right of first publication.
